AKA Day at the State Capitol - Bringing Politics to Youth: Education, Service and Policies, May 18, 2009.  This event introduced youth to the art and science of government and politics.  Students from Oliver Wendell Holmes Elementary School, King's Academy and James Madison Academic Campus participated in the days activities.  This event was co-sponsored with Epsilon Kappa Omega Chapter of Milwaukee and Kappa Psi Omega Chapter of Madison.

The 3rd Annual Luncheon and Fundraiser, Tribute to Women Leader, Celebrating Women in the Financial Industry, Saturday October 24, 2009, Radisson Hotel Mayfair West. Our guest speaker was Glinda Bridgforth a leading financial expert who explores the emotional and cultural factors that block financial success.  Bridgforth is the author of: Girl, Get Your Money Straight! and with Gail Perry-Mason, she coauthored Girl, Make Your Money Grow!. Her most recent release is entitled, Girl, Get Your Credit Straight!. All of her books are Essence bestsellers.  With over 100 guests in attendance the ladies of Upsilon Mu Omega Chapter also paid special tribute and honored three outstanding women in the field of business and finance.  The honorees included Maria Monreal-Cameron, President and CEO of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Warwees Holt, President and CEO of Christ the King Credit Union, and Deloris Sims past President, Chairwoman, and CEO of Legacy Bank.  These three dynamic ladies were selected based on the work they do in our local community and their dedication to improving the financial well-being of Milwaukee families.
Financial Workshop for Women & Girls was held Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Villard Library.  This event was in partnership with Wells Fargo Bank.   Information was provided on credit and budgeting.
Kwanzaa Celebration, Saturday, December 5, 2009, at the Milwaukee Christian Center. "A Kwanzaa Celebration:  Honoring Community Partners for their Exemplary Service and Participation".   This year's event started with an uplifting and energizing performance by the Nefetari Dancers from Oliver Wendell Holmes Elementary School.  Chapter members, friends, and special guests were honored to have Dr. Anthony Mensah and Kwabena Robert Falson from the Pan-African Community Association, conducting the blessing and Libation ceremony. Guests also enjoyed a wonderful soul food meal that was catered by Stella’s Homestyle Cuisine & Catering. Immediately following the meal was a presentation by Kwabena Robert Falson on the seven symbols and principles of Kwanzaa. The celebration ended with UMO presenting and honoring this year’s five Exceptional Service Partners.
MLK Day of Service, Monday, January 19, 2009  Thank you to all the youth, teens and adults who shared in this day of service with Upsilon Mu Omega Chapter.  Guests were treated to a financial workshop on money management, and school supply gift bags were distributed to all youth participants.
Adopt-A-Poll Project, February 17, 2009, North Division Campus.  Members of Upsilon Mu Omega Chapter served as Poll Workers for Milwaukee's Spring Primary election.
Boys to Men Conference was held March 14, 2009 from 10 am-3pm at Northcott Neighborhood House.  Young men ages 13-18 listened to dynamic, engaging, and well-versed speakers discuss topics like financial literacy, career and educational planning, leadership skills and healthy relationships.  The day culminated with a 3-on-3 basketball tournament.  It was an enjoyable time held by all.
Adopt-A-Poll Project, April 7, 2009, North Division Campus.  Members of Upsilon Mu Omega Chapter served as Poll Workers for Milwaukee's Spring Election.
Our 12th Annual Family Fun Day was held August 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  This year's theme was An Active Family is a Healthy Family: Fun, Fitness, and  Fellowship.   The purpose of Family Fun Day (FFD) is to provide resources, activities and entertainment to area families.  There was a Children’s Fun area, including face painting and tattoos, as well as live music, refreshments, many special guests and numerous educational, health and financial  related activities and resources.
AKA Money Camp for Kids, was held June 22-26, 12:30-5:00 p.m. at Washington Park Library.  Thirty youth participated in this years Money Camp.  They enjoyed a diversity of workshops focusing on financial literacy, such as: budgeting, savings, and starting a business..  Additionally, they attended field trips that allowed them to see the inner workings of local Milwaukee businesses.  The week culminated with the youth presenting their projects they worked on all week.
Miss Fashionetta® Presentation, Saturday May 30, 2009. This year’s Fashionetta® event is themed, “An Afternoon of Transformational Elegance-Featuring the Butterfly”. Fashionetta® 2009 was held at Heartlove Place.  The event highlightedyoung women, ages 7-12, in the greater Milwaukee area.  Proceeds benefit our local community through our annual scholarships and community service programs.
